ABOUT DR JAMESON

Associate Professor Carolyn Jameson is a Sydney based female Weight Loss and General Surgeon who has been recognised as a Surgeon of Excellence in Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery. She has private rooms in Westmead, Penrith and Wentworth Point and is a consultant surgeon with SIOS at Leichhardt and runs a public clinic at Auburn Hospital. A/Prof Jameson operates at Westmead Private, East Sydney and Auburn Hospitals. A/Prof Jameson has over two decades of surgical experience and has performed more than 1000 weight loss surgeries including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, gastric balloon, gastric band revision and removal. A/Prof Jameson works with a team of anaesthetists and other medical specialists, dietitians, physiotherapists and psychologists to provide holistic care for her patients.

In addition to weight loss surgery and medical management, A/Prof Jameson regularly performs other general laparoscopic surgical procedures including; hiatus hernia repair, gallbladder removal, umbilical and inguinal hernia repair, excision of lipomas and skin lesions and upper and lower endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy).

As an experienced award winning educator, A/Prof Jameson teaches medical students, junior doctors, surgical registrars and surgical fellows. A/Prof Jameson is an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Hospital Supervisor of Training at Auburn Hospital.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

A/Prof Jameson graduated from The University of Sydney. She completed advanced surgical training through Royal Prince Alfred Hospital followed by post-fellowship training at Westmead Public and Private Hospitals. A/Prof Jameson has extensive post-fellowship training in bariatric surgery, kidney and pancreas transplantation, head and neck surgery and in surgical oncology. She has completed robot assisted training in upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery through Intuitive with the da Vinci robot. A/Prof Jameson has worked at Royal Darwin Hospital, The Canberra Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney as well as in regional, rural and remote areas of Australia. She has also worked in the Solomon Islands and in Nepal.

AREAS OF INTEREST

A/Prof Jameson has been awarded a Bariatric & Metabolic Surgeon of Excellence. She regularly performs gastric balloon insertion, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass (one anastomosis / omega loop / mini bypass) and single-stage revision bariatric surgery as well as gastric band assessment, fluid adjustments and gastric band removal. A/Prof Jameson routinely contributes data to the Australian National Bariatric Surgery Registry
